The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to Corrections inmates/detainees and to clean the kitchen and food preparation equipment.
Responsibilities:
Prepares and cooks all meals for inmates on an assigned shift Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot/cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position Reviews menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils Maintains standards of sanitation and cleanliness Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping of floors and trash collection as appropriate to the area of operation Assists inmate workers in washing dinner trays and kitchen equipment Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies Maintains knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS:
General/technical high school diploma or equivalent Vocational training in food services Minimum one (1) year of food service experience May be required to complete the Food Service Sanitation course and/or Corrections Service course Ability to attend Correction Administrative training for basic correctional requirements Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
