Overview:
The Appraisal Manager is and advanced management position and the primary role is to complete complex and non-complex summary appraisal per state and federal guidelines, review the work of other appraisers and to check for accuracy and fairness. Responsible for estimating the value of real property when bought, sold, assessed, taxed, condemned, insured, or mortgaged. The employee in this position is responsible for coordinating projects that involve a high level of complexity and directing subordinates that are accountable for appraisal work, as well as providing mentoring and training for entry-level appraisers. The Appraisal Manager is also responsible for viewing the written appraisals performed by appraisers for consistency and conformity.

Locations: Cincinnati, OH- St. Louis, MO- Roanoke, VA- Houston, TX
Responsibilities:
1. Administration: Developing the computed final estimation of property values, taking into account such factors as depreciation, replacement costs, and value comparisons of similar properties. Demonstrated proficiency in office administration, financial administration, electronic record keeping, scheduling, and event planning and office equipment. Reviewing written reports that estimate property values, methods by which the estimations were made, and meet appraisal standards. Possess strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated experience at all levels within an organization. Model strong customer service orientation.
2. Customer Service: Providing proactive support to internal and external customers while ensuring tactfulness and discretion.
3. Relationship Building: Having a positive approach to building relationships and partnering with clients and vendors.
4. Regulations: Demonstrates applied knowledge of state/federal rules, regulations and codes related to Uniform Relocation Act of 1970 (49 CFR Part 24), Department of Transportation, Airports, County Projects, Real Estate and Right of Way fields. Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, code and law changes as it relates to the industry. Demonstrates and understands how to obtain specific information regarding assessments, zoning regulations, soil and water maps, as well as data regarding values of neighboring properties.
5. Evaluations and Inspections: Possess knowledge of inspecting property sites and interacting with property owners, evaluating land and neighborhoods where properties are situated, considering locations and trends or impending changes that could influence future values. Possess knowledge of evaluating the type and location of nearby services such as shopping centers, schools, parks, and other neighborhood features in order to evaluate their impact on property values. Possess the knowledge of reviewing land diagrams that are used in appraisal reports to support findings. Ability to inspect properties to evaluate construction, condition, special features, and functional design, and to take property measurements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience.
Three (3) or more of years of relevant administrative office experience.
Completed training and state license as a certified general real estate appraiser.
Advance knowledge of arithmetic, calculus, geometry and statics applications.
Basic knowledge of general economic and accounting principles and practices. Possess the ability to work with multiple deadlines and priorities, ability to work across a variety of projects and with diverse constituencies.
Possess the ability to manage administrative projects involving financials, files and customer scheduling.
Must be technologically proficient with MS Office Suite (MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel) and other electronic tools: internet, social media and software programs similar to Visio and/or Publisher.
